Cecce Once again I may have confused things a bit (but not a lot).. Bartolomeu III's son is Garcia Perestrelo. He was supposed to inherit the island. Pat Corbera here below says that he was married to a Maria Taveira (it is not Teixeira?). I don't know that. His father killed his mother, for another woman. Garcia killed his wife , and unlike his father, lost his neck. Now Diogo Soares Perestrelo inherited the island as its 4th "legal" Captain. He was not a brother to Garcia  but a grandson of Bartolomeu III. Now he may have been Garcia's son, but right now I don't know that. Anybody out there know who are Diogo's parents? ...I hope I got this right this time! The info I am providing here is from Elicidário Madeirense, Volume III, page 110 in the 1978 edition.
