Hi Pat, Francisco Castanha is, indeed, one of "mine". I have never had the opportunity to see the Freitas book, Portuguese Hawaiian Memories, but I have seen an online index of sorts that suggests I may be interested is several entries from that publication: pg. 170 - Manuel Rodrigues Castanha & Maria pg. 174 - Paulino Franca & Balbina Conceicao Ferraz pg. 174 - Joao Gomes Robello & Maria Rosa pg. 206 - Manuel R(odrigues) Castanha & Maria Jesus (also on 206, Francisco R. Castanha) pg. 222 - Paulino Franca & Balbina Conceicao Ferraz (again?) I would love to see a picture of Francisco, if you don't mind scanning it for me. I've never seen pictures of any of these individuals - only of the generation after Manuela Rodrigues Castanha & Maria da Silva (the presumed couple discussed on pg. 170).
