Lou, If you click on www.railsoft.com/family/stirlingshire.jpg you will see a picture of the actual ship. There were two ships with the name Stirlingshire. The ship that your ancestors and mine sailed on was a smaller wooden hulled vessel built in New Zealand in 1848, pictured above. Her home port in 1885 - 1886 was Youghal, County Cork, Ireland, and her official number was 24868. The signal flag letters were PCNT. There is a book that has a great detail description of the voyage on that ship in 1885 by a Mr. Philip L. Pasquini. The book is call "Indentured Immigrants - A Jewish family odyssey from Madeira to the Sandwhich Islands".
