    3. I received the information I have from the Portuguese Genealogical & Historical Society O Hawaii. Luis Joao Periera and Maria da Encarnacao are the withness for my grandmothers marriage in 1904 in Hawaii. They sent me a group sheet with Luis Joao Pereira and Maria da Encarnacao being her parents. Luis Joao Pereira has passport registration 27 May 1878. and I have nothing on Maria da Encarnacao. Now what makes this confusings is: I have a Certificate of Baptism from Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Hamakua Hawaii and it has on it the date of birth of my grandmother and her Parents as Manuel Pereira and Maria Conceicao. I have these two coming to Hawaii in 1883, but cannot find them in any census after that, or any information on them. I figured if I could trace Luis Joao Periera and his wife Maria da Encarnacao back to Portugal I might be able to link the two families and make some sense of this conflicting information. I have a call in to the Catholic Church in Hawaii and I am going to send a copy of the Baptism for them to verify and I am going to ask if there is any Maria Pereira's baptised to the parents of Luis Joao Pereira and Maria da Encarnacao in 1887. I don't think that Luis Joao Periera and Maria da Encarnacao are my grandmothers' parents...but I think they may be related and I want to know how. Thanks for all the help to all of you Lou Henderson On Apr 17, 2012, [1]prt-madeira-request@rootsweb.com wrote: ______________________________________________________________ Today's Topics: 1. Re: Luis Joao Pereira and Maria da Encarnacao (JAndrade1) ______________________________________________________________ You will likely need a bit more information to use the passport database on Arquivo-Madeira.org to determine a lineage. When did she leave Madeira, roughly? Did she leave very young, with her parents or later? Single or married when she left? How do you know that her parents are Luis Joao Pereira and Maria da Encarnacao are her parents? There is a lot on Sao Pedro online at ARMdigital.arquivo-madeira.com, so you can hunt around there and see the actual record itself. Sometimes, there is info in the averbamente that is in the margins of the record, such as death and marriages, even if in a foreign country.
