Hello Eusébio, I think that instead of Feijão Velho (Old Bean...) it could it be Fajã Velha. There is one in São Martinho...As you say it's in the vicinity of São Vicente, which is on the opposite side, it has to be discarded- Searching for other homophonic names there is also Fajã da Ovelha, but not in São Vicente or nearby. It's in Calheta. In any case here is the meaning of Fajâ (theree are several in Madeira , as well in Açores) : O topónimo *Fajã *ou o seu plural *Fajãs *são nomes típicos dos arquipélagos dos Açores e da Madeira, cuja origem se encontra em *fajã*, «pequena extensão de terreno plano, susceptível de cultura, geralmente à beira-mar», conforme nos explica José Pedro Machado, no *Dicionário Onomástico Etimológico da Língua Portuguesa* To sum up "Fajã is a small extension of flat land, where it is possible to farm, usually by the seaside." Could you check again to see whether the spelling you send is accurate? Best, Miguel On Mon, Apr 9, 2012 at 1:05 AM, leandro deoliveira <gregobhte1@aol.com>wrote: > Hi Eusebio > > I havent.
