    1. Re: [PRT-MADEIRA] Surname: Pitta
    2. Pitta was a common name in Ponta do Sol and very common in Canhas, Madeira. I primarily research Pitta family lines. But I'm also interested in de Pontes from São Vicente and de Gouvea from São Gonçalo although I've done little research on them. 2. Lou Abreu
    3. Bob/Pat I believe we have spoken in the past with regard to the Pitta name and also the Abreu name. As my family (Abreu/Pitta) is from Ponto do Sol and all resided in Lowell Ma, I have inquired to my grandmother whether she remembers any Pittas from Tilden street, there were Pittas that lived on Jewett street and Caroline street in Centerville section of Lowell, I will get back to you on what I find. Regards, Lou Abreu "For those who have fought for it....Freedom has a taste the protected will never know" " Without the Brave there would be no land of the Free" A new Recruit asked an old Warrior, "What is War like?" The old timer replied, "A bunch of us went down to Gettysburg one day, a lot of people died. If you weren’t there you wouldn’t understand." -----Original Message----- From: bpitta@comcast.net [mailto:bpitta@comcast.net] Sent: Wednesday, May 31, 2006 5:55 PM To: PRT-MADEIRA-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [PRT-MADEIRA] Surname: Pitta Pitta was a common name in Ponta do Sol and very common in Canhas, Madeira.
