Does anyone know what's involved to obtain copies of the documentation presented in Madeira by emigrants who applied to travel to Hawaii? I've seen such documentation obtained from Madeira but don't know its source or how it was acquired. Are such data managed by the Madeira archives? I have a specific person identified on a specific vessel's passenger list (1884 arrival in Honolulu) but don't know how and where to present a request for documents.
