My parents have met an old ladie on her 80's who still runs a grocery as old as herself in Estreito da Calheta, her name being Agrela Coutinho. She was still a bit scared about some Americans who had come there some time ago, filming and asking a lot of questions! In my opinion that's just as well. :) I've been reading the book "Familias de Gaula", I strongly counsel it to everyone doing genealogic research in Madeira. Lots of info on the families from the East coast and Machico capitany. Someone, maybe Pat Corbera or Cece Camara, asked me about the book "Arquivo da Familia Ornelas Vasconcelos".
