Linda, I'm pretty sure it's short for Lombo do Doutor, Calheta. I have an ancestor Joao [Rodrigues] Ferreira bapt 1730 Nov 13; born 10 (B# 516 fl 6), married Maria de Sousa Calheta 1756 April 29 (B# 534 fls 54/55v dwelling area Lombo da Doutor. Joao son of Manuel [Rodrigues] Ferreira and Francisca Xavier.
