    3. Bob, I know exactly what you mean. The first time I accessed the Madeira Archives website I came away thinking what a waste of time. I couldn't find any of the marriage records, that I knew should/would be there. But then I realized that the accent marks used in the spelling of some names needed to be used also. After that it wasn't hard at all. I don't speak Portuguese, but do understand when spoken. I've learn to spot what I call "buzz words," that help in reading the vital records. 50 % of all Portuguese words, can be easily figured out with the near similar spelling of English words, and for the other 50 % a good English-Portuguese Dictionary is very helpful. Before long, you'll be a "pro." Don't give-up... If you or other list members need a "walk through," in accessing the Madeira Archives (ARM) marriage records section just let us know. I am sorry but I don't read or speak Portuguese either But thank you for the information Bob Camacho Researching the islands of Terceira for da Costa, and Evangelho, Graciousa for Reis, and Madeira for Camacho ============================== Find your ancestors in the Birth, Marriage and Death Records.
