Mitochondrial portraits of the Madeira and Acores archipelagos witness different genetic pools of its settlers: http://www.simurl.com/create.php For those of you who have mtDNA tested in the Azores or Madeira DNA Projects, we will be comparing your mtDNA to the results of this study. So far, the Pacheco (Sao Jorge) participant in the Azores Project has a close match with someone in the Azores and Portugal. Participants in the Madeira DNA Project closely match H-28, H-32, H-33 in the Brehm study in the following regions: 4 in Madeira, 1 in Azores, and exact matches in Portugal, Spain, Europe and North Africa. (PLEASE NOTE: HVR1 compared only and 519C is excluded) ~Katherine Borges Azores & Madeira DNA Projects Co-administrator
What is the URL for the write-up on mtDNA about the different genetic pools of its settlers. I'm confused by the URL given... http://www.simurl.com/create.php. Where exactly are the results of this study that you will be comparing the mtDNA results of Madeira and Acores Project members/participants to? Hi Pat, I shortened the link using simurl.com, did it not work when you clicked on it? Here's the original link, but it "breaks" because its so long: http://evolutsioon.ut.ee/publications/Brehm2003.pdf#search=%22Mitochondrial%20portraits%20of%20the%20Madeira%20and%20Acores%20archipelagos%20witness%20different%20genetic%20pools%20of%20its%20settlers.%22 I've already updated the Madeira mtDNA page with the results: http://www.ourfamilyorigins.com/madeira/mtdna.htm Please let me know if you have additional questions. Hi Katherine, When I clicked on it, it simple took me to simurl.com homepage... I looked for the article, but didn't find it. I did a Yahoo search and located a website created by Prof. Brehm, very interesting individual to say the least. Thank you for your quick reply... I'll check out the Madeira mtDNA page. >From additional testing I'm now a H1... waiting for HVR2 test results.
