I have a question for those of you who speak Portuguese. While translating a copy of my grandmother's birth certificate I came across something that I understand can have multiple meanings. Her godfather is listed as Bacharel Jose Joaquim de Freitas. I know that bacharel can mean batchelor. I know it can also mean someone who has earned a degree in a field like Law or Economics.
