Hi, My name is Sharon Patrick Rodriguez, and I'm new to the list. I'm trying to find some information on my grandmother, Rosa de Mendonca, born in Santa Cruz, Madeira, in 1895. Her parents were Joaquina das Neves and Manuel de Mendonca. From what I've seen, they were apparently married in 1880, but the records I saw only listed a daughter born in 1881. I know there must have been several children in between her and my grandmother, and I remember my grandmother talking about nieces and nephews back in Madeira. I believe that grandma left Madeira in 1914, and married my grandfather, Henry (Patricio de) Souza in the Sacramento delta, in California. His parents were from Pico in the Azores. I would be grateful for any information. My daughter is fairly fluent in Portuguese, so she can do any translations if documents are in Portuguese.
