Hi guys it's me again-see what happens when I decide to make sure all my sources are good from the early stuff???...LOL K, so forJoana Teixeira (daughter of Lancarote & Beatriz)-the whole family of which has been under discussion here lately- I have found what I believe is conflicting or additional information-at least to me it is-with my very limited "genealogical" Portuguese. HHN -Monizes - pg 1 says the following: 2-D.Ignes Moniz, mulher de Joao Lourenco de Miranda, filho de Pedro Lourenco de Miranda. Pagem d'a Lanca d'o Infante D. Henrique, em titulo de Miranda's Casou 2, vez com D. Joana Teixeira, filha de Lancarote Teixeira, o velho, e de Beatriz de Goes, e titulo de Teixeiras. (sorry I don't know all the symbol, how to type them, or how to read them...if someone can fill me in on what they all mean-I'd be greatly appreciative) OK, so I presume the person that they said married 2nd here to Joana Teixeira, is Joao Lourenco de Miranda (whom of course was in my file with only one wife-Ignes Moniz- so Joana would be new here). I already have Joana Teixeira in my file, married to Vasco Martins Moniz, per the info below: Registo genealógico de famílias que passaram à Madeira, Portugal-Luis Peter - pg 218- MONIZ Vasco Martins Moniz, fidalgo de Case Real, filho segundo de Henrique Moniz, Alcaide-de Silves, e de sua segunda mulher D. Ines de Meneses, em t de Monizes de Portugal, foi o primero da sua estirpe que passoua esta ilha;fez assento em Machico, onde teve grande casa. Falaceu iin Portugal, na Vila de Torreao, em case de sua mae, no ano 1510. Institui morgado de sua terca em seu filho primogento, Garci Moniz, Casou tre vezes: a primero com D. Ines Cabral, filha de Diogo Cabral e de Beatriz Fonsalves da Camara; a segunda, com Brites Vaz Ferreira, filha de Vasco Fernandes, escudeiro da Casa Real, e de Eva Gomer Ferreira, em t de Ferreiras; e a terceira, Joana Teixeira, filha de Lancarote Teixeira, o velho,e de Beatiz de Gois. Da segunda e terceira mulher houve geracao. So my "I only know genealogical Portuguese" shortened version is that Vasco, who was the 2nd son of Henrique and his 2nd wife Inez (title Monizes), he was the first in his family to come to the island, lived in Machico in a big house, died in Portugal at the house of his mother, instituted a morgado for his first son Garcia, he married three times,(yada yada), the third marriage was to Joana Teixeira. So, does everyone or anyone else show Joana Teixeira married twice, once to Joao Lourenco de Miranda (assuming I am reading that correctly) and 2nd to Vasco Martins Moniz (which is where I had her originally-only married once). If you do have her married twice, do you show any other sources besides these 2 (each of which only mention her being married once), Thanks!! Cece
