Hello everyone: I am currently researching a branch of my family from Santa Beatriz, Gaula. I have seen a few records that contain unusual notations and hope someone can explain. The given names are not followed by a surname but by the printed letters A and/or U. I was once told that the letters AX after a name often meant that someone was a "New" catholic. (convert) Is this another variation on the same concept? BTW- thanks to Nancy Felix for help with Gaula family ties. :-) Mary da Silva Frost
