    3. We have an aunt who was from the family of Tello and Escorcio. Her father was Joao Telles b. 1862 born in Porto da Cruz, Madeira Island and his wife Christiana Escorcio from Porto da Cruz. They left for Hawaii and farmed and raised also six children. He was listed as 54 and the wife as 24. Joao was 5 foot 3" and his wife Christiana as 5 foot 1". The children were listed as Maria b. 1892, John b. 1902, Beatrice b. 1907, and Virginia 1899. The children were all born in Sao Luzia, Porto da Cruz, Madeira. It is easy to see why they were from Porto da Cruz as that is close to where you can easily arrive from Porto Santo. Also there are Drummonds who migrated to California from Hawaii and Porto Santo They sailed from Madeira to Hawaii in 1906 on the ship Swanley and remained there for many years and are buried there. The daughter Maria met her future spouse on that ship and after several years they migrated to Oakland California in the 1920's.
