Thanks to this last discussion about Cairos, Ordonhes, Saldanhas and Vianas I came back to primo Clode's book, And as in another list we're having a discussion about Cantos, in the title CANTO, pg. 75. I found this very interesting reference: "Houve mais um Pedro Gonçalves do Canto, casado con Ana de Almeida Fernandes,, de quem teve dois filhos Jerónimo Martins do Canto, sogro de *Jorge Malheiro Lume *e outro por nome Francisco Vieira do Canto que casou por 1620 em CL. com Andreza de Brito, filha de Sebastiçao Mendes de Brito and beatriz das Arcas." This is extremely interesting for those with Lume's ascendancy. It shows the Lume connected with Malheiros and the Cantos, an interesting family who rose from the petite bourgeoisie (they were merchants) to the top of nobility (The Cantos e Castros, from Açores. We even had a president of the Republic with that name.) Anyway, I believe this offers a new perspective for tracking the Lumes.
