This interests particularly the descendants of the Noronhas from Caniço, as well of those of Vasco Fernandes do Rego. In Tomo I-1, pg 149, of Pereira de Agrela I found this: Maria Gonçalves m. (Funchal, 1552) Afonso de Viana, ( the first Viana to come to Madeira (in 1539 he was living in Caniço)) Maria Gonçalves was the daughter of João Adão Raposo m. Filipa Correia, and paternal g. dau. of Gonçalo Anes Raposo (referred in NFP, Gayo, vol IX, pg 201, título Raposos)) and Helena Correia. This Helena Correia was the dau. of one of the most famous sesmeiros and povoadores of Câmara de Lobos. Diogo Lopes, also known as Diogo Lopes da Escada or da Estacada. He was married with Helena Lopes Correia, daughter of Fernão Correia, of noble lineage, said to be a comrade of João Gonçalves Zarco. The noble Correias, it seems stem from this lineage, not from the lineage of João Afonso, of Câmara de Lobos, said to be a Correia, but who was not a real Correia. It's worth investigating this Diogo Lopes and Helena Lopes Correia descendants. It seems that the Gomes Correias from S. Gonçalo, who also carried the names Correia de Abreu and Ornelas de Abreu, are his direct descendants. Also the early Lopes de Abreu from Câmara de Lobos. Another interesting thing in this title of Viannas, is that Afonso de Viana and Maria Gonçalves also had: Constança Lopes (Jan 20, 1543, Caniço).m Diogo de Fragoa, or Diogo de Fraga, FCR. From whom I suspect originate the Fragas from Caniço. Pedro de Viana , son of Af. de Viana and M.a, Gves married (Sé, 1567) Catarina Rodrigues de Frias also known as Catarrina Ferreira , dau. of Miguel Rodrigues de Frias ( Sé, 1542) m. Leonor Gonçalves (possibly Leonor Gonçalves Ferreira, because of the Ferreira his daughter used.) Rhis Frias might be a descendant of the first of this name to come to Madeira, Romeu de Frias, who married around 1470, Isabel Dias Baldaia. best regards, Miguel
