    1. Re: [PT-MADEIRA] Pachecos if the Rodrigues de Gouveia and João Rodrigues Escórcio was ( Licenciado Francisco Rodrigues de Gouveia)
    2. Miguel de Castro Henriques
    3. Cece, Ana de Castro and Isabel de Castro Chamorra are sisters. In the Rodrigues de Gouveia genealogy they are given as daughters of Brites Chamorra (1612) and Francisco Lopes Esteves.. As per Meneses Vaz, this Brites Chamorra is the daugther of Gaspar Rodrigues de Gouveia and Ana de Castro (m.1579). And this last Ana de Castro is said (in these genealogies ) to be the dau. of Dr. Diogo de Castro and Margarida Ferreira. (Paulo contests that. See Rodrigues de Gouveia; forgeries). Anyway the two sisters, who also carried the name Ferreira, married two brothers, two Vaz Rebelos.(From the Vaz Rebelos) Ana (born 1613) married Antònio Vaz Rebelo,(around 1640) son of António Vaz Rebelo and Beatriz Delgado. Isabel married (1657) Francisco Vaz Rebelo, You're surprised that they not share a common name. It's not unusual for a Portuguese old family to use several names. But not using common names also means that the family has a bank of names at its disposal and certainly for display. So the Rodrigues de Gouveia (and they are far from being the only ones) used: a) Rodrigues de Gouveia b) Lopes de Gouveia c( Chamorro de Gouveia d) Gouveia Pacheco e) de Castro f) de Castro Chamorra g) Gouveia Cardoso h) Ferreira de Gouveia etc. all this names in the space of just two or three generations. We can not apply to them our naming logic. Hope I have clarified somehow your doubts, Cheers, Miguel . 2010/1/9 Cece Camara <[email protected]> > People, people...be kinder to us novices that are trying to put these > pieces > together for the first time!!! > > So I think I understand that Isabel Ferreira de Castro (married to ??) and > Ana de Castro (married to ??) are both the daughters of Dr. Diogo de Castro > & Margarida Ferreira.(correct me if I'm wrong) > And that Manuel de Gouveia Pacheco (married to ???) is the son of Ana de > Castro and (???) > > And now can you tell me how any of these peoople tie in to any of the > people > below as I don't see any common names there? > I do have a couple of the people above and a couple of the people below and > am desperately trying to make this association that is so clear to the both > of you;-) > > -----Original Message----- > From: [email protected] > [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Fernandes, Jose > Sent: Friday, January 08, 2010 1:46 PM > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: [PT-MADEIRA]Pachecos if the Rodrigues de Gouveia and João > Rodrigues Escórcio was ( Licenciado Francisco Rodrigues de Gouveia) > > Miguel, > It is a good story.
