Hi Philip, I have had a similar experience. Like you, I keep a balance at the archive so I don't have to go through the 'waiting' for the documents when I need them. They are very good about this, and I'm highly appreciative that they allow me to do this. I have doing this for at least 8 years. Last year I sent off my cheque and waited and waited until I followed up and got the same response as you. Apparently, their banking fees for foreign cheques are usurious. I never got a clear explanation as to what the charges were - I emailed the treasurer, my local bank, HSBC, which operates worldwide also tried to follow up, all with no satisfactory end result. I got tired of waiting. So now, I just convert dollars to euros and register mail the cash. I think it actually works out in my favour even with the cost of registered mail. Thanks Janette that is exactly what happened and it's crazy but we have to live with it. I am going to send the cash courier.
