Luis, Thank you for your added comments. I phoned and spoke with one of their service reps...and was told that I should read their "disclaimer." When I pointed out that many of the suggestions do not even apply, it was like she was a "broken record," and kept repeating the same phrase of "read the disclaimer, and/or fill out the customer service email form. Well, I did, and it's now over one week still waiting for a reply to my email. I personally think that Ancestry.com is totally aware of what's going on, but for whatever reason do not wish to address the problems. Last evening I did received a reply from a person I had sent a message to, informing her that their linking and dates were incorrect...she said that she was well aware of the errors and was working on trying to correct them...but that her time spent making corrections is limited due to summer vacation and her children being out of school. I wrote back and said when she's ready that I would be more than happy to help her. Hope I do hear from her again, since she's incorrectly linked with my da Silva Se' family. I think that Ancestry.com has become so large and their main concern is not to learn of ways of improving their programs, but to continue to grow, all under the "umbrella," of what's in their "disclaimer," and it's "not their fault." Well, I guess I'm not the only one concerned with their suggestions/linking methods...and some would say if you're not happy with Ancestry.com just pull your pedigree information and cancel your subscription... Hi Don, Here's what I found on how to remove/delete an ancestry.com tree...I'm not sure by doing this procedure that a tree is completely removed from the ancestry.com system or if it only deletes/remove access by the person that originally created it up... May be Leo/Leonardo in our group would try this out, since he has at least 5 different trees on ancestry.com... Procedure: Log on to ancestry.com Next to the name of your tree you will find "Tree Pages," Mouse over "tree pages" >From "tree pages, select and Click on "Tree Settings" Your Tree Info now appears with the "Tree Name" and any "Tree Description" that you may have added... On the right side of that page you will see the following: Your home person in this tree Who you are in this tree Manage your tree You now have the option to "Export," your tree "Export your family tree data, as a GEDCOM file, to your computer. OR TO: "Delete your tree"... "Delete your tree from Ancestry. This includes deleting all people, photos, stories, etc. in your tree." WARNING! "This action cannot be undone!" Delete your tree (click on this wording to start the process). I'm not sure what appears next after clicking on "Delete your Tree." I didn't want to delete my tree, if this really works... Hi Linda and Don, Here's how to go from Public to Private on Ancestry.com Log on to ancestry.com Log on to your site Next to your tree name click on Tree Pages >From Tree Pages Click on Tree Settings >From Tree Settings Click on Privacy Settings You now have the option of Clicking on Private Tree to make your tree Private In the Private Tree Box, you also have the option of preventing your tree from being found in the search index... I did not click on that option...I wanted people to be able to contact me, and then I would make the decision whether or not to allow them to view my tree. Note: although your tree will instantly become private, it usually takes about a week or more to be reflected in the search index... ALSO NOTE: If some one contacts you after your tree is a Private Tree and you accept their request to view your tree, be sure to let them only view/contribute information to you via email, and not to be able to "edit/change," any of your tree information.
