Thanks Jeff, The only reason that I used that as her maiden name was because of the marriage document. One of her daughters, my great grandmother, use that as her last name on a document in the U.S., however other than that document she has always been known as Julia Agrela. Madeira Documentation; Marriage Record: Antonio de Agrela, Wife: Claudina de Ascensao, Parish: Estreito da Calheta, Year: 1847, Book: 1066, Leaf: 166 The marriage document states that António d'Agrella married to Claudina D'Ascenção on September 9, 1847 in Estreito da Calheta. António is a widower at this time. His wife, Maria de Jesus had died. He is the son of Francisco d'Agrella (Agrela)- who had passed away and of Antónia de Jesus. Claudina is the daughter of João Francisco d'Agrella - who had passed away and of Vicencia Rosa de Jesus. Witnesses were Francisco Gonçalves Cunha and António da Silva. They were all from Estre Tom Freitas -----Original Message----- From: prt-madeira-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:prt-madeira-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of JAndrade1 Sent: Tuesday, December 13, 2011 10:27 AM To: prt-madeira@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [PT-MADEIRA] de Sá Family Tom, Saw your interesting intro to your tribal pages site. Good work. I do have one comment, though: you said that Ascencao was the maiden name of Julia's mother. I do not think this is true. I thought that the use of de Ascencao was only as a part of the first name, such as Maria de Jesus, not a family name. Anyone out here know something about that? -Jeff On Oct 26, 2011, at 10:33 AM, Thomas Freitas wrote: Cece, Yes, on tribal pages at http://freitasfamily.tribalpages.com with the password madeira Tom Freitas -----Original Message----- From: prt-madeira-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:prt-madeira-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Cece Camara Sent: Tuesday, October 25, 2011 7:02 PM To: prt-madeira@rootsweb.com; bpitta@comcast.net Subject: Re: [PT-MADEIRA] de Sá Family Bob, Just noticed on the myFTDNA page that you and my husband Ed have a 25 MARKER - GENETIC DISTANCE - 2 Y-DNA match. I recognized your e-mail address and name from the prt-Madeira list. You are the first Portuguese Madeiran surname to have hit that high for him. His other 3 - 25 marker matches have English sounding surnames (Collins, Beller, Blayney). Unfortunately Ed's direct paternal line (which is also my paternal line) ends after just 3 generations as our great grandfather was an orphan... Is your tree online anywhere?
