It seems things have changed since about a year ago. The bank fees have gone through the roof and it is not viable to pay the Madeira archives with a draft or personal cheque any longer. I had to send cash to have my copies released. ARM returned the draft after a month saying the bank fees were more than the value of the check (30 Euro) Cheers Philip Rodrigues http://rodriguesfamily.tribalpages.com/ From: Louise Polsky <pitinha@cox.net> To: PT-Madeira <prt-madeira@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thu, June 23, 2011 1:32:11 AM Subject: [PT-MADEIRA] Portuguese citizenship An Ornellas cousin, a U.S. citizen, is applying for Portuguese citizenship. She is the granddaughter and great granddaughter of natives of Porto Santo, Madeira, Portugal. I have their baptismal records obtained from Family History Library microfilm records. She is seeking official records from the Madeira archives, and has been consulting with the Portuguese Embassy. Have any of you gone through this process? Do you have any suggestions? What has been your experience sending money to the archives? Thanks for your input. Louise Pitta Polsky/
