I have ordered photo-copies of vital records from the Madeira Archives and have paid with my Chase personal check...no problem so far, though it takes months before the check clears my bank. Would this cousin be seeking "dual citizenship," and if so, would you and/or list members please explain how a USA citizen can claim citizenship to two countries... She is the granddaughter and great granddaughter of natives of Porto Santo, Madeira, Portugal. I have their baptismal records obtained from Family History Library microfilm records. She is seeking official records from the Madeira archives, and has been consulting with the Portuguese Embassy. Have any of you gone through this process? Do you have any suggestions? What has been your experience sending money to the archives? Thanks for your input. 3. After posting my dual citizenship question... I checked the Internet, and much to my surprise it's as you have said...it's allowed in the USA as well as most countries world wide. I think I was getting "hung-up," on thinking that denouncing all other citizenship was a requirement for USA citizenship... Very interesting subject... thank you for your input...
