Hello list members I wonder if anyone is having a problem with payment to the archives by bank draft (bank certified check)? Recently I ordered some certificates and sent 30 euro bank draft in payment. The cost of the certificates were only about 5 euro but I always send more and they keep a credit balance in my account for future use. The archives emailed me and said the Banco Bilbao and Viscaya said that the 30 euro draft does not cover it's expenses! I don't know what expenses they mean and my email to the archives remained unanswered. Now they (The archives) tell me the draft is being returned to me and I owe x amount euro. Banco Bilbao and Viscaya is in Argentaria Spain so I have no contact with them since I purchased the draft at a Canadian bank. I just wondered if anyone encountered a similar situation? Thanks a lot. Pat/Regina, garden is the translation of Jardim. What interests me more is the Freitas Shipping. Where did that come from? There is a branch of the Freitas Martins that is involved in shipping. They are still today. Their genealogy is available on NESOS. I do have a copy of it. Hello everyone, I found a great newspaper lookup site and was able to look at several days in Hawaii when my great grandparents arrived there March 2, 1886. I found a couple of articles on the ship and the people and goods on the ship. Anyway, the website address is http://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/beta Tom Freitas

Anyway I remember that in the title Baptistas, from FMPS, there is also a mention of a Porto- Carreiro married to a lady Baptista. Porto Carreiro is a very rare name in Madeira. Quite recently I read in Tizón de la Nobleza Española, by the Cardinal Francisco de Medoza y Bobadilla, 16 th century that the Porto-Carreros (from which came the Portuguese Porto Carreiro branch) had a jewish origin - and as it originated in Spain it is most certainly sephardic. you can read this most famous book here (in spanish) http://www.argentinawarez.com/ebooks-gratis/1020335-libro-el-tizon-de-la-nobleza-espanola-de-francisco-de-mendoza-y-bobadilla.html Hugs, Miguel On Tue, Mar 8, 2011 at 11:57 PM, Pat Corbera <PatriciaCorbera@comcast.net>wrote: > Dear Primo Miguel, > > Thank you... Anybody know anything about this couple - helping a friend- couple shows in passport record but not in marriage records António Gonçalves do Carvalhal with Luísa de Leça - Canhas about 1845-1850 Thanks Philip http://rodriguesfamily.tribalpages.com/
Yes I can verify Andre Fernandes with Margarida goncalves as Maria Prita's parents because I have the marriage document that confirms it.. I would be happy to share it with anyone who needs proof positive. Cece, According to the current methodology, in genealogy, when we don't have sufficient data we have to formulate plausible hyporthesis, and wait (for new data) to demonstrate or dismiss it and that's what you did. And that's the good attitude, which keeps the ball on the game.
