I am related to the Bairds in warwick, ny -----Original Message----- From: presbyterian-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:presbyterian-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of CackyCline@aol.com Sent: Monday, October 16, 2006 3:47 PM To: presbyterian@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [PRESBYTERIAN] Presbyterian minister 1850 Gilleland Gilliland connection, all in the 1700's Reverend Alex Gilleland married a Fances Baird and had the following children: Elizabeth Mary "Polly" Adam and James Elizabeth married Rev. Robert G Wilson, brother of my Rev Samuel Blain Wilson, who (RGW) became president of the University of Ohio Pollly married James Wilson, another of the brothers and James ( Rev) married another Frances Baird (below) The children of Adam Baird , Frances married Rev James Gilleland and her sister Hannah married John Wilson, a third brother. So you see the Baird and Wilson lines are collateral to the Gillilands, and other of the Wilson sibs, girls, married Baird brothers. Is this at all clear? My family tree is kind of knotted up with intermarriages and rows of marriages between just a few families (who were not up until then kin) That happened in the next generation with children of Rev John Baird Davies...and I do not know where he got the middle name of Baird.. but it had to be before 1720. It seems all my cousins are double and triple to some degree. SOME of this may be sorted out for you in The Wilson - Baird Book by Frank Wilson. It is"printed" on tissue paper by use of carbon paper, so copies are few and fragile, however I found one in the Lincoln County Library , Lincolnton, N C, and made photociopies of y pertinent pages, but the paper is so sheer they are not very good.
