Rachel Jones Mr. William Watson Pennington, better known as Rabbit Pennington, age 72, of Jefferson died Monday morning, September 3, 2001 at Segraves Nursing Care Center. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 6, 2001 at 2:00 PM at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. JC Norton and Rev. Bill Burchett. Burial will follow in the Old Fields Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM, Wednesday, September 5, 2001 at the funeral home. Mr. Pennington was born in Ashe County on Friday, March 15, 1929 to Oscar Pennington and Lessie Johnson Pennington. He owned and operated a Produce Store in West Jefferson. His parents and two brothers, Paul W. Pennington and Jack Pennington, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Reba Phillips Pennington, of the home; a son, Michael Pennington, of Wilkesboro; two daughters, Becky Fisher, of Deep Gap and Nancy Pennington, of Jefferson; two sisters, Polly Tulbert, of Elkin and Peggy Taylor, of Jefferson; a grandchild; several nieces and nephews also survive.
