Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, October 8, at 11:00 AM at the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Jefferson. The Pennington family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home, prior to the funeral service. Mr Pennington was born in Ashe County on February 24, 1943 to Lowell and Maggie Farmer Pennington. He had retired from the Sprague Electric Company and raised christmas trees and farmed. He is survived by his wife, Carol Lea Nelson Pennington; one son, Joseph Pennington, Jr. of Creston, NC; one daughter, Mrs. Michele David of Crumpler, NC; his mother, Mrs. Maggie Farmer Pennington of Creston; four sisters, Mary Elliott of West Jefferson, NC, Owilla Landreth of Cockranville, PA, Peggy Richardson, Creston, NC and Kathy Allen of Walkertown, NC; five grandchildren also survive.
