    1. Re: disturbing emails
    2. Thank you, Judy, for the encouragement. Luckily for me, this person was not threatening, just bitter about something I had nothing to do with. Wow, a 1983 internet user! You were in the forefront of the online generation! I didn't get online until either the late '80s or early '90s, just in time for university research papers, and I think we were still using 14k modems back then! Chug--chug. This was the only hostile person I have encountered since I've been posting, so I should count myself lucky. I guess you have to take the bad with the good even on the internet. I still feel like such a novice in genealogy and I've been doing it on and off for about 3 years. Have a great day! I worked for Compuserve so I received free online usage. I didn't start the family tree online till about 1998 when my husband retired. I have received some strange messages but nothing threatening. Everyone on the lists I post to are usually very nice but there are exceptions. Just be grateful that you can exclude this person from your email and try to shrug it off. Not the easiest thing to do. Everyone online should be alert and aware of what can happen in answering an unsolicted email or even one that sounds like the person can help you.
