    3. Hi Elizabeth and Welcome to our list.. In the 1930 census, City of Augusta, Richmond County, GA. District 9, Pg. 255-10B Line 68.Your Charles lived on 5th Street with his grandmother ! Bear with me because the copy I have is a poor one. It goes like this: Head of the household is a Sarah Bartles or Bartlett. She is a white female age 58. Living with her is a son-in-law, Hibon ? Pennington age 27 yrs.; a daughter -? - Pennington age 24 years, a grandson Charles H. Pennington age 6 years and a granddaughter named Hilda F age 4 yrs. All of these relatives show that their parents were born in GA. Grace Ritter was the daughter of William H. and Jessie Ritter. In 1930, they lived in the City of Baltimore, Baltimore County, MD. Grace had two brothers at that time, Herbert L. and William H. Jr. Ritter. Interesting on the Ritter's. I have a second cousin, Ben Ritter. He has traced back to MD from VA. with his family as I have done with my Penningtons. All of us have to keep in the back of our minds that some of the relationships to the PRA and Pennington Family Groups are linked by other surnames. In Family Group 9, I have two incidents where a direct relative married another family in 1960 and finding out years later, tracing both surnames back to 1730 in Md. the two families are together again. Amazing huh? Anyway, Elizabeth, I hope this has helped you a little. Also, I noticed that in replying to you - you need to be subscribed to the mailing list to receive answers to your query. ( I am going to check on this with Gene) That is why I replied to you AND the PRA mailing list to make sure that you get the nformation on your family. If you are not a subscriber to the PRA list just; send a email to (click here) [email protected] and on the "Subject line" type in: subscribe (nothing else and send it). In this way you will receive mail from any Pennington cousins out there is cyberspace. Don't be shy, we are a pretty good gang to learn from - let us know what else we can help you with. After sending email to the PRA mailing list, a copy of it will also be sent to you. If you send mail to our mailing list and do not get a copy of your email back, let myself or Gene Pennington (webmaster) at [email protected] if you have any problems, okay? We'll be talking to ya and again welcome !! Maybe this info will get Mike and you on the way to finding your heritage. 3. Elizabeth; I volunteer as a librarian of the day at the Augusta Genealogical Society Library once a month. I'd be glad to look up information for you. Rene'e has already provided you with the census entry. My scheduled day is the third Thursday which will be March 21st. Let me know if you have some specific requests between now and then. The name "Matthew Brooks Pennington" sounds like there might be a connection to the family of Brooks Pennington of Madison, Georgia, the founder of Pennington Feed and Seed. Many of the Penningtons who live in this area are related to that line. I am not, however. Perhaps someone will chime in with the PRA group number for Brooks Pennington's line? Good luck with your research, Paul A.
