    3. Rene'e and list, I am sorry who caught the intentional mistake? The link established by DNA for group 23 is to group 6 not group 9! Both of these groups have Isaacs in them early on. Group 9 shares a DNA sequence with groups 19, 29 and perhaps group 26. N.P. "Rene'e Davis" <[email protected]> 03/23/2004 08:44 AM Please respond to PRA-L To: [email protected] cc: (bcc: Nicholas Penington/Downstate) Subject: Re: McIvor Cousins, I wanted to share this interesting information Nick Penington (DNA Specialist) gave me on the subject. It just goes to show you that 'great minds - think alike'. ;>) Rene'e, Funny I was just reading about the McIvor's today. This is one of the few Irish names that is said to be Viking! The Vikings raided Ireland then settled and founded many towns including Dublin. They were finally thrown out in 902 AD by the Irish whereupon they invaded the Wirral south of Liverpool. Other Norwegians re conquered Dublin in 917 and they then blended into the population. The Wirral connection is, I think, perhaps how I got my Viking DNA (seen in the DNA Study). Regarding Darby, this was my mother's mother's name. There is a famous aristocratic line of Irish Darbys (of Leap castle) but they were originally English (or Norman). There are many English lines of Darbys so I would say the name is not Irish. Perhaps that Isaac Pennington has something to do with the link between groups 9 and 23? Nick. -He also added: McIvor means "son of Ivor or Ivo" and was a very popular Viking name. 3. Hi Nick, Yea, I was looking at Grp. 23 and could not find a common factor in the records or sources to my Grp. 9 and thought (of course - after forwarding to the list) that it might be a typo. Thanks for keeping us straight - we appreciate you.
