New postings (messages) have been made to the PRA blog at --> http://praresearch.blogspot.com. If you've not visited the PRA blog recently, take a look at what's happening. Anyone can view and/or post a message (comment) to any of the topics. You can also start your own topic by posting a new message to the blog. The main thing I like about blogs (besides the ability to post pictures, search, etc.) is that you can set them up as RSS feeds (which the PRA blog is set up to do). Then you post the RSS feed line into your website home page and it will automatically feed new message headlines directly to your home page. I do this for news, other genealogy websites, etc. so when I go to my home page, I get headlines from all my favorite websites, e-zines, etc. at one location. If I want to learn more about a headline, I just click on it and it'll take me directly to the website with the information. The RSS Site feed is --> http://praresearch.blogspot.com/atom.xml . I have Dick Eastman's Online Genealogy Newsletter (http://blog.eogn.com/eastmans_online_genealogy/), Footnote's blog (http://blog.footnote.com/), 24-7 Family History Circle (http://blogs.ancestry.com/circle/) and several news websites setup as RSS feeds on my home page in my web browser. I use IE Explorer 7 for my web browser and www.Google.com as my home page. Once you set www.google.com as you home page, you can add RSS feeds as well as other helpful "things". Most "portal home pages" like Yahoo, MSN, Comcast.net, AT&T.com have the same features. I also have a Google e-mail address (genepenn1@gmail.com) so I can use it as needed. Once you have setup your Gmail e-mail account, you can login to www.google.com and create your own customized home page. If you've not setup your home page for RSS feeds, try it.
