    3. Dear Daniel Many thanks for your reply. I would be happy to exchange information on the earlier ancestors of Micajah Perry. I have particular interests in Richard Perry of St. Antholin parish, London, and his cousins, John and William Perry of early Virginia. I have done some appreciable work on these. My interest really relates back to a William Swan, who was the first customs collector on the James River, February 1636/7 to May 1638, and father of Colonel Thomas Swann of Swann's Point in the County of Surry, VA. I am convinced that William Swan knew this family back in London in the 1620s and 1630s - and that is how he came to emigrate to Virginia. I have no information on him between his marriage at Stepney in 1612 and his Land Patent of November 1635. They key is where he was living in London/Middlesex. As a long-standing member of the West Surrey FHS I am better placed than most to know what is involved in unravelling that question. Do you know the Pennington contact for the family and relations of Sir Isaac Pennington, the prominent merchant in London in the 1630s and 1640s and undoubted acquaintance of Richard Perry and Matthew Craddock? The Perry discussion is probably best continued off-list, if you wish to pursue. Micajah Pennington may have got his name from another Micajah in the VA/NC area. I recall running across a few. I live in the UK - about 25 miles from the TNA. Micajah is a very unusual Christian name - but I have come across it once before. There is a Micajah Perry who became a really powerful London merchant trader in the second half of the seventeenth century. The best book on him and this family is: Jacob M. Price, Perry of London, A Family and Firm on the Seaborne Frontier, 1615-1753 [Harvard University Press, 1992]. Has this potential link been explored at all by previous Pennington researchers? I am particularly interested in establishing the connection of Henry Pennington who was in Maryland in the 1630s and what was his fate. He, almost certainly, came from Isaac Pennington's family, possibly a cousin or nephew - something like that. Can you direct me to the right group and expert on this lineage? This is really to help sort through the trading networking connections of this family into early Virginia and Maryland. Thanks in advance for your help Brian Brian Picton Swann *************************************** To post a message to the list send your message to --> PRA@rootsweb.com ************************************** For more information about the PRA including our DNA Study, visit us at http://www.penningtonresearch.org ************************************** Learn what's new at the PRA by going to http://www.penningtonresearch.org and click on the "News" link on the left side of the page. *************************************** Visit the PRA Blog at --> http://praresearch.blogspot.com.
