Dear Ron, Well, I'm not sure what we'd find on Ancestry.com but I've found lots of stuff. They have the whole U.S. census for instance. The 1920 might give your father's father, with maybe his mother's first name, too. There's the Social Security Death Index which you probably already have. Once you have his father's name, you can go on back in the census on your Grandfather's family which might yield occupation, address at that time, etc. They have some bits of military records, some marriage stuff, some births, but not all of either since there is much at the State level and the county level. I'd like to know what in particular you hope to find and what you already have by way of documentation. I have the UK collection, and the newspaper collection which of course is way short of complete. That may be next to impossible to get together and input the data for the whole country. Actually, I'm going to head on over to Ancestry and see if anything pops up for 1920 on your father. I'll be back. Barb, Thank you for your interest in helping. I can give you some of the info I do have. He was borne in Maldro, Oklahoma in May 26th 1918 and was killed in Plano, Texas in Aug.6th 1958. His father was Willis Spencer Pennington , B in Alabama Nov.14th 1879 - D in Tulsa 1966. Mother was Alta May Woody B in Sallisaw, Ok. May 7th 1894 & D in Sandsprings, Ok. Dec.22 1981. His Grandfather was Absolem Jackson Pennington B July 11 1854-D 1902. G-Grandfather Joel Harison Pennington May 1815-June 1897. The info I have takes me to his GG Grandfather Benagah Pennington 1781-1860---- GGG Grandfather Macajah Pennington 1743 - 1812 I do not have documentation on any of this other than what I had found when I was a member of Ancestry.com, but really didn't understand what I needed to do and how to navigate their system. My wife is interested in her family and we probably need to get a new membership. We have been to the little Community of Pennington England just South of the Lake district. Having been adopted and growing up as Ron Hauser and not being able to talk or even ask about my Pennington background, This is very important to me now and want to pass this on to my Children, and Grandchildren.
