Ron, I must caution you on your line :) You are absolutely correct to Benajah Pennington - however his father is not Micajah Pennington. We don't know for sure who is father is. Micajah had a son named Benajah Pennington but he was not the same age as yours. At some point in the past, the two were merged somehow despite the 10 or so years difference in their ages. The Benajah Pennington who was son of Micajah was last known to be in Barren Co., KY and after that is anyone's guess. Gene has done a lot of research on your Benajah Pennington. The only thing that we can say for sure is the genetically your lines seems quite close to Groups 30 and 31. There are some interesting similiarities. Also, I must agree with what Barb and Melinda have said about Ancestry.com. The census records are invaluable and I spend a great deal of time using them, however the databases (family tree's) are only as good as whoever entered the data. We have a little saying "Garbage In, Garbage out." The inconsistencies that have been perpetuated are legendary for some family lines. I'll give you an example. Micajah Pennington had a son name Micajah, Jr. and then a grandson named Micajah Pennington, III. Many believe that Micajah, Jr. was married to a Cynthia Correy and a Nancy Baker. Despite the fact that Cynthia Correy married a William Jones and was still married to him in 1850. In every census until after 1840, Micajah, Jr. is married to a woman of a similar age to him. Nancy Baker and Cynthia Williams were actually both married Micajah III and not Micajah, Jr. It took a great deal of untangling by Pat Reid, Rosalie Graham and myself, but we did eventually get it figured out. However, you are still going to find in many databases, Cynthia Corey and Nancy Baker married to Micajah Pennington, Jr. People just can't seem to accept that we don't know the name of Micajah, Jr.'s wife and may never know it. Carmen On Fri Mar 9 3:49 , rhauser@peoplepc.com sent: Barb, Thank you for your interest in helping. I can give you some of the info I do have. He was borne in Maldro, Oklahoma in May 26th 1918 and was killed in Plano, Texas in Aug.6th 1958. His father was Willis Spencer Pennington , B in Alabama Nov.14th 1879 - D in Tulsa 1966. Mother was Alta May Woody B in Sallisaw, Ok. May 7th 1894 & D in Sandsprings, Ok. Dec.22 1981. His Grandfather was Absolem Jackson Pennington B July 11 1854-D 1902. G-Grandfather Joel Harison Pennington May 1815-June 1897. The info I have takes me to his GG Grandfather Benagah Pennington 1781-1860---- GGG Grandfather Macajah Pennington 1743 - 1812 I do not have documentation on any of this other than what I had found when I was a member of Ancestry.com, but really didn't understand what I needed to do and how to navigate their system. My wife is interested in her family and we probably need to get a new membership. We have been to the little Community of Pennington England just South of the Lake district. Having been adopted and growing up as Ron Hauser and not being able to talk or even ask about my Pennington background, This is very important to me now and want to pass this on to my Children, and Grandchildren. If we need to go to a different e-mail - let me know. My wife & I really like reading the others comments. Thanks again, Ron (H.)
