The PRA benefits from having a wonderful group of volunteers! We are very fortunate that we have such a great group of Pennington "cousins" who care about the PRA and want to help see us carry on this wonderful tradition. Our volunteers work very hard to help ensure the PRA continues to improve and to meet it's stated goals and objectives. One of the few ways we have to recognize outstanding volunteers is to award them with an Honorary Membership. The PRA Bylaws, Article II, Section 2.04 describes the process for awarding Honorary membership. It says; "From time to time, the Board may recognize outstanding contributions to the field of genealogical research by bestowing an Honorary Membership to such a person. No dues shall be charged but such members shall have all of the same rights and privileges, as does an active member." There are many things which can be viewed as "outstanding contributions" when a volunteer works on behalf of the PRA. In my opinion, the words "... outstanding contributions to the field of genealogical research ..." can cover a wide range of things. For example, in the past, the Board has recognized volunteers for their many years of hard work on behalf of the PRA and for outstanding contributions that helped to further the mission of the PRA. If you would like to nominate a PRA member to be recognized as one of our Honorary Members, please let me know soon. Please include a couple of short paragraphs describing why you would like to see your nominee be awarded an Honorary Membership.
