Melinda: My Penningtons belong to Group 4. My grandmother, Jimanna Pennington Hibdon Carter, was born in Oglesby, Texas. Her father was James A. Pennington, son of Corbin Pennington, who also lived there. They were there in 1860, 1870, and 1880 at least. James A. Pennington married Francis June Robinson. They had abt. 11 children, all girls. Corbin married Elizabeth McGehee. They had about 9 children. Corbin Pennington is son of Asa Pennington and Rachel Lane, Lawrence Co., MO. Corbin had a daughter named Sarah E. Pennington but I feel it is not the one that is being searched right now. But there were Sarahs in several generations and in other relatives' families, apparently. Corbin and James A. Pennington lived on the same farm together in Plum Creek Beat, Coryell Co., TX (Leonsville PO) in 1860 or 1870 census. Corbin's Sarah E. Pennington may have married a man named Beckett but am not sure of that. Corbin and Elizabeth must be buried around Oglesby, TX but have not been able to verify that. James A. Pennington was there in 1880 and the next time I found them they were living in Childress Co., Texas. James and Frances are buried in Kirland Cemetery, Kirland, Childress Co., Texas. My grandparents, Jimanna and Christopher Lawson Carter (C. L.), lived in Gracemont, OK and Anadarko, OK in Caddo Co., OK where my father was born and also I was born and raised. The only people I am sure of are Jimanna and C. L.'s children who I grew up around. Thought it might be of interest to know that there were other Penningtons in Oglesby, Texas and surrounding area.
