Marie & DoroLee, Blogs aren't all that complicated. As with many things, the terminology makes it a bit more complicated than it needs to be. RSS means "Really Simple Syndication" which means it is a format where information is frequently updated. Have you ever been to a website and they ask you for comments on the bottom and you write a message. You've written in a blog then. Blog means weblog. Make believe that you have a diary that is on the internet, people can come and comment on what you've written. Then other people can come and look at your comments...if they choose to, they can add their own comments. You can actually add RSS feeds to many email programs which will put the information much like an email message. Everyone used to get emailed newsletters or ezines...since spam has gotten so bad, many of the ezines have been blocked by spam blockers. Even if you wanted to receive the newsletter it is blocked. I would say that there are going to be some members that will choose not to participate. I'm used to doing things like web pages, email, and blogs because it is interest of mine and I'm fairly young. However, I would encourage you to embrace some of these new things. If you think that you are too old...then let me tell you about my great uncle. He will be 89 in October...he not only has his own web page, he has scanned over 1000 pictures from World War II from his bomber group and made CD's of the photos available for the rest of his fellow soldiers. He lets someone else take care of most of the administration of the web page - but he is still scanning newsletters and uploading them to the website. His younger sister who will be 87 in a month has scanned all of her photos and is working on her parent's albums and making copies for any of the family members who want them. She doesn't understand how anyone could get by without email. If you want to take a look at my uncle's website which is about the 38th Bomb Group which later became the basis for the Air Force...the website is at www.sunsetters38bg.com - Take a chance and check the blog out...it doesn't hurt to take a look!
