He was born Jan. 26, 1924, in Webster County. He was a retired mechanic at Babcock & Wilcox and a member of the Victory Baptist Church in Mathiston. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a Mason. Services will be at 11 a.m. today at the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel in Eupora with the Rev. Don Parrish officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Valley Cemetery in Mathiston. Survivors include his wife, Alma Dean Pennington of Mathiston; one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Lloyd Hughey of North Little Rock, Ark.; one son, Joseph A. Pennington Jr. of Mandeville, La.; one sister, Inez Shaw of Westwego, La.; one brother, Roy Pennington of Lumberton; two grandchildren.
