Ms. Truitt I am also from Ardmore and would like very much to learn more about my family and my ancestors. As far as the Pennington Search site I am not sure where I fit in. I am working with a young lady by the name of Julie Martin who may also be a descendent of Benjamin Franklin Pennington we believe to be a brother of my great grandfather Alonzo Charles Pennington 1856 or 1859. We also believe their other brother was Thomas Sidney Pennington and they moved into Van Sandt, Texas after the Civil War. We know that Alonzo moved into the Woodville Indian Territory in 1903-1905 and became an ordained Baptist Minister in Marshall County (Madill). He also was preaching and performed marriages in Johnston County (Tishomingo area). I think that Benjamin may also have moved into Oklahoma and apparently Thomas stayed in Van Sandt Canton, Texas. My great grandfather Alonzo had sons J.B. who was a teacher throughout Oklahoma and a song writer and lived in Ringling, Oklahoma when Alonzo died in 1936. William Carlton Pennington (W.C.) was in Sherman-Denison area and I think ended up in Geary, Oklahoma. William Carlton had 13 children a few I am in touch with. Lela or Lilly Pennington ended up in Oklahoma but not immediately sure where. Sid (nickname Ed) Pennington have no real information on. Walter Henry Pennington 1891-1968 was my grandfather and lived in Mansville, Fox, Ratliff City and died in Wilson Oklahoma. I think he was born in Texas possibly Van Sandt. I have a news paper clipping where Alonzo was living in Ringling at the home of J.B. when he died in Jan, 1936 which said he was married to Susan Fowler who may have been previously married to Gross? The article said that his father and brothers fought in the Civil War out of Mississippi and we believe his father was from Alabama but again we do not have any information on his father and mother. This is where we are stuck. We did locate information that their may have been a Thomas Sidney Pennington (will call him senior for purposes of this information) He was born in 1813 in Alabama and married to a Nancy born in 1820 with no further information. We are finding that there was a heck of a lot of Pennington's in this world and running into a number of brick walls so any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated. My next question is "are we cousins" you said you were living in Ardmore and I see your last name is Truitt? Tell me about you and how you ended up there and or your maiden name etc. Want to see if I may know you or some of your relatives. My dad was Sidney Franklin (Slim) Pennington born in Mansville and lived in Ardmore, Healdton, Fox area all his life. He worked for B.L. Owens Furniture there in Ardmore for more than 25 years and owned his own furniture store called the Poor Boys furniture on highway 70 for a number of years and had Jess McGinnis as a pardner. Jess retired from Ardmore Police Dept many years ago. My dad died in 1986 there in Ardmore. My mother Mildred Gilliam-Pennington and several other cousins still live there some of them are Gilliam and some Pennington? So anything there sound familiar? Again thank you for contacting me. I owe Butch a hug! My Mother, now deceased, was descendant of the Pennington family, which connects with the Boones in Kentucky (1798-1828). My Mother and Dad were born and raised in Wills Point, Van Zandt Co., TX, and I was also born there. I do a lot of family genealogy and have written it down, and keep datafiles which include the Pennington surname. I feel sure you are a member of the Pennington Research Association http://www.penningtonresearch.org/<http://www.penningtonresearch.org/> so I want to ask which Group do you descend from? I am in Group IV, which is the Ephraim Pennington progenitor. Dr. William "Bill" Pennington is President of Murray State College, Tishomingo, OK. He descends from the Ephraim>Richard Pennington lineage also. There is a Pennington Creek that goes through Tishomingo, is in Johnston County. I will do some searches in the area, since I live in Ardmore, OK, and get back in touch with you. Just a Note from . . . . . .
