    3. Mike and others, For those of you who have questions about Texas geography or history, may I refer you to The Handbook of Texas Online. Originally published by the Texas State Historical Association as a two volume set in 1952 it expanded to many volumes and was finally put online in 1999 as a joint project of TSHA and The University of Texas. They currently claim over 23,000 articles on items of Texas history. As to Van Sandt, I'm afraid you will find nothing in the Handbook of Texas. However, if you search for Van Zandt, you will find an extensive history of the county of Van Zandt and find that Canton is the county seat. Valley view is a little more difficult since there were/are at least 10 places in Texas called Valley View. (According to Street Atlas USA.) However, there is currently only one town with that name and it is north of Fort Worth about 50 miles on I-35. Canton is east of Dallas about 55 miles on I-20 so as the crow flies, the two cities are about 100 miles apart. My Pennington line came from Group 32, Wells Pennington. My great- grandfather, Michael Huriah Pennington left Kentucky and moved to Greenville, TX but from my research I know that a brother of his, William, moved to the Whitewright, TX area southeast of Sherman, which would put them a little closer to the Valley View area. I am on the road until September, without my research material, but the history and genealogy of that family was in a manuscript I found in the Kentucky State Archives. If you do find a connection to William or to some other descendent of my GGreat-grandfather, Theophilus Pennington, I can provide additional information. I do appreciate the information and yes any help in the Van Sandt area would be great. We know that Thomas Sidney and his family are there and buried there but not sure about Benjamin Franklin and or Alonzo's family. If we knew who their parents were we would be one step closer. Soooooo tell your friend I will buy coffee and appreciate any help we can get. Also have you ever heard the name of Millie Pennington or the name William Monroe Beckham? This is a note I got from Pricilla Bottom regarding her great grandmother but I am not sure of the connection if any? Hello, I saw your e-mail in Butch Bridges' This 'n' That. My great grandmother was Millie Pennington. She was married to my great grandfather, William Monroe Beckham. She gave birth to my grandfather, Finley Stewart Beckham, on April 6, 1881, and she died when he was about 4 years of age (1885?). My grandfather always said she died of "yellow jaundice" so I suspect she had a liver ailment, but I don't know for sure. My grandfather was born around Valley View, TX, and died in Ardmore, OK, May 4, 1974. I have always been curious about my great grandparents--the Pennington's--but have no information on them since my grandfather was so young when his mother died. If any of this information fits into your family history, would you please share it with me? Thank you.
