Mike, The name is not familiar. Let me do some searching and I will get back in touch with you. Most of the research reveals Dennis Pennington in Corydon. Have you done a search of the censuses for Harrison County? I have not done that yet, and need to. I did a search for Pennington on the website for the New Albany Public Library at New Albany, IN, www.nafclibrary.org and a picture of a Helen Pennington appeared. Does anyone know how she ties in to the Indiana Penningtons, or other Penningtons? The Penningtons I have were found in Harrison County, but I have never encountered Helen's name. Virginia Brown
I wish I could help you - Lizzie probably was Elizabeth Day. There was a Thaddeus Pennington living in Tallapoosa Co in the 1860 census - he was a cousin to Thaddeus Baily's father. Perhaps that is how T. B. met her? He always lived in Madrid, Houston Co. ----- Original Message ----- From: <TWilli346@aol.com> To: <pra@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, September 30, 2007 5:23 PM Subject: Re: [PRA] Thaddeus Baily Pennington (b. 1862, d. 1928), Alabama > > My wife has a Day line from Tallapoosa County, AL. > > > Tom Williams. > Auburn, AL > > > > In a message dated 9/29/2007 5:45:31 P.M. Ellen, Glad to hear back from you so soon. My line:Thomas Pennington, Frederick Will Penington, Frederick Cowart Pennington, John Pennington, Walter Franklin Pennington (my father) . My sister and I have been members of the Pennington Research Assn for years and have been working on this for about forty years. Just the last month I have had contact with Jim Price, line of Ephriam, born in 1809, a decendant of SusanPenningtonBullock, daug of Ephriam. He has quiet abit of info on that line. Just last month I came across a will of John Smith: heirs were Thoomas and William Pennington and I am looking into this. The Beall's were tgood at keeping records and my niece and others have joined the DAR under Leatha's line. I have right a bit on Bealls and have given to PRA. I am trying to make arragements to attend the reunion but I have to get someone to come with me. I am 83 but well but you know how family is about traveling alone. I have just moved to SC from Mobile, AL . My dad said the three brothers were exiled during the Cromwell uprising because they stood up against. I have researched Barbadas and fount some. Lets keep in touch. Jim Price's e-mail is jabboprice@bellsouth.net. Pennington Family Reunion to be held Saturday, October 20th All descendants of Thaddeus Baily Pennington (b. 1862, d. 1928) are invited to join us at the Basketcase Restaurant, 228 South Oates in downtown Dothan, from 12:30 to 5:00 PM. Lunch, snacks and non-alcoholic drinks will be catered at a cost of $30 per person. T. B. was a farmer in the Madrid area and homesteaded about 400 acres. He is buried in Big Creek Methodist Church Cemetery where we believe his father was the minister. When Henrietta Jordan, his first wife, died in childbirth, he married her sister, Elzena. Children born to the first wife were Eula (Hasty) and Henry - to the second wife, Orada (Smith), Walter Curtis, Howard, Levada (Campbell), and Georgia (Womble). His third wife, Lizzie Day, died shortly after they married, but his last wife, Mary Jenkins, gave him five more children - Rudolph, Sarah Ferrell (Wells), Gerald, and twins, Lillian (Reid) and Lee. We need the present generation to help us finish our genealogy research. If you can attend, please bring copies of old photos, family bibles, or documents of interest. Ellen: The Rootsweb mail list software admin program will not let you post any attachments to a message. You'll need to post the message yourself rather than use an attachment. You can also send it to me and with your consent, I can post it on the PRA website's "Reunion" web page. We will also be mailing a printed membership application for 2008 to all PRA 2007 Members in a few weeks. I'd like to clarify the ending dates for the PRA 2007 Membership. The PRA 2007 Membership ends on 12/31/07. The PRA 2008 Membership starts on 1/1/08. I know this gets a little confusing. We set 9/15/07 as the date we'll start accepting membership applications for 2008 and end when we'll accept membership applications for 2007. It is important that our 2007 Members know their membership runs until the end of 2007. This is important because only PRA 2007 Members get to vote on PRA 2007 matters such as the Board Member election. We'll be mailing ballots out in a few weeks to just 2007 Members. Let us know if you have any questions. Thx, Melinda
Hello all Pennington researchers: We are now accepting applications for the 2008 PRA membership (Sep 16, 2008 - Sep 15, 2009). The 2007 membership ended on September 15th, 2007. Annual membership dues are $27 Pennington Periodical Vol. 1 CD's (1968-1979) $35.00 You will be receiving a new membership application soon with your Fall issue of the Pennington Pedigree CD in a few weeks for those who would like to mail in your dues payment. Remember all checks and paper applications are to be mailed to the new PRA CFO - Treasurer. Peggy Pound, 6324 Shady Valley Ct., Las Vegas, NV 89130 For those of you who wish to pay by paypal (credit card), please visit this website. http://penningtonresearch.org/organization/memberapp.htm Remember you will be charged a $2 charge to use this service. I don't want you to be caught off guard about this. All donations to the library and research fund are deductible from your 2007 tax returns (if paid in 2007). I look forward to working with all of you in the next year on our Pennington research. Take care and let me know if you have any questions. Melinda Pennington Membership Chair
