wow; this is really great. these are my mother's ancestors, it's really great to get this much info all at once. I can add a little bit of info to this. David had another sister named Martha who married Henderson Griffith who was brother to Anna Nettie Pennington the wife of David. I was raised by David and nettie. I am truly thankful to find out this much about my mom's people. Thanks. Jim barber.

This was possible because of the scrolls having been written on parchment made from sheepskin. Hi Mandy, Thanks for the information. There were several Abraham's, Jacob's and Isaac's in the many Pennington lines. It is very hard to separate them. Take care, Judy Minihan

Descendants of Jacob Pennington I Generation No. 1 1. Jacob1 Pennington I1 was born Abt. 17602, and died 10 May 1838 in Paint Township, Highland County, Ohio3. He married Catherine3. She died 19 Jul 1832 in Paint Township, Highland County, Ohio4. Notes for Jacob Pennington I: 8-2-2005 - I think I have Jacob in the 1810 with Abraham. I have been going over the census records and found something kind of strange. In the 1820 census Jacob has neighbors on both sides that are Largents. This follows the original land grants that are from the 1740's.(?) But Abraham does not in the 1810 census. Oh, then there is Elizah Pennington he appears only in the 1810 with a bunch of kids. I cannot find him. Abraham does not have the kids he is supposed to have in 1810. Is Elizah his brother and did he die along with his wife? Did Abraham take his kids? I sure wish I could get more information on them. More About Jacob Pennington I: Census: 1830, Paint Township, Highland County, Ohio Child of Jacob Pennington and Catherine is: + 2 i. Notes for Abraham Pennington: I found a land record at the Virginia Archives online dated August 1, 1807 for Hampshire County, VA for Abraham Pennington for 84 1/2 acres. The land borders Jacob Pennington's! I can find nothing about land record for Jacob online, just this. I have a copy of the original image. The date on the image is Jan. 1, 1806. More About Abraham Pennington: Census: 1810, Hampshire County, Virginia Notes for Elizabeth Van Pelt: I am getting the name Van Pelt from the Lyle book but now I don't think it is correct. Hi, As to the census records of Hampshire County, VA. Jacob is living with Abraham, his son in 1810 and in 1820, Abraham is living with Jacob. They moved to Highland County, Ohio about 1828. I have been on the Hampshire County list for many years. I know that Pennington is an old name in Hampshire County, VA for Wilber Kerns. I have a book that lists my Penningtons as belonging to Primitive Baptist Church. I have not connected other Penningtons in Hampshire County to Jacob or Abraham except they are father and son. These are my husband's relatives. I brought my family tree records to the Pennington Reunion in Portland, OR but no one could help. I am hoping as more people join we will find the answer to the mystery. I will send a genealogy report. Take care, Judy Minihan

Hi, I have a Abraham Pennington, son of Jacob, b. May 2, 1781. They moved to Hampshire County, VA/WVA. They show up in the 1810 census. Now either Jacob the father or Abraham married a Van Pelt or a Van Meter. I have been hunting for the parents of Jacob, who was born about 1760. This seems so close to Timothy. I had to write. Vickie: Yes, you can join the mail list in either "REGULAR" or in "DIGEST" mode. The difference between "regular" and "digest" mode is this: In the "digest" mode, several postings are combined and sent to you together as a single large message. These "digest" messages are sent out when the size of the messages exceed 30kb OR each day, whichever comes first. The advantage is that you only get the 1 message a day rather than several each day. If you want to join (subscribe) to the mail list in the "Digest" mode, you'll fir have to quit (unsubscribe) yourself from the mail list since you're a member of the "Regular" mode now. Once you've done that, you can join (subscribe) to the mail list in the "Digest" mode. See the instructions below. To quit (unsubscribe) from the mail list in the "Regular" mode, send a message with the command "unsubscribe" (no quotes) in the subject line and in the message text body to PRA-request@rootsweb.com. To join in "Digest" mode, send a message with the command "subscribe" (no quotes) in the subject line and in the message text body to PRA-D-request@rootsweb.com. Note: You can change to either "regular" or to "digest" mode at any time. You will have to "unsubscribe" yourself from the list first and then "subscribe" to the list in the new mode. I hope this helps.
