On a recent trip to the NLW I found out something that may be of interest for Llananno/Llanbadarn Ffynydd people. I had earlier copied the BTs for both of those Parishes and had then copied the PRs from microfilm later on paper. When it came to compare the BTs/PRs line for line I came across a problem. The PR entries for BOOK ONE Llanbadarn Ffynydd did not match anything in the BTs for that Parish for the same years...not even one entry.Immediately alarm bells started ringing and I knew there was a problem here. Now if an error had been made that book one could be any Parish in Wales.I mentioned this to the staff at the NLW and I was allowed to look at the original copy of book one under ultraviolet light. There at the top on the first page only was the word Llanano [sic] in Latin...very,very faint but still readable. It was only on that first page since it seems that the tops of the following pages had all been cut off in a zig-zag fashion at some time in the past. I next pulled up the Llananno BTs on my computer and low and behold the surviving PR entries all matched the BTs...line for line. So...an error had been made in the past and book one Llanbadarn Fawr should now read Book one Llananno.Good news for Llananno people.Bad news for Llanbadarn Ffynydd people.
