I also had forebears who were either described as hauliers or alternatively Ostler, having known my grandfather who was involved with it as a boy; primarily they had been involved with horses and used the carts to move dead or sick horses and the hauling was a bye product of that. A little ditty: my grandfather would bleed horses via the jugular vein when they had a high temperature, flu etc, it could save the horses life; his youngest brother died of the flu circa 1901 and my grandfather never forgave himself for not having bled his brother: it troubled him greatly.
