In 1851 and 1861 my G^3 Grandparents (Thomas & Margaret EVENS) were in Maesmynis and had a Granddaughter living with them, she was Rebecca EVANS/MASON born ABT 1849 Maesmynis. There is a Rebecca MASON birth in Q1 1849 Builth so I think I am going to have to get the Birth Certificate but try here first as not a very common name in that area. Rebecca is shown as Rebecca EVANS in 1851 so perhaps she was illegitimate and her mother married later. In 1861 she is shown as Rebecca MASON. I presume that one of Thomas's daughter married a Mason but don't know which and probably don't have any record of her. Probably significantly there is a William & Jane MASON next to them in the census in 1861. Jane is shown as born "Allthrangg" in 1831 so she is about the right age - any suggestions where Allthrangg might be (presumably the name has been mangled).
