Assuming, like Jean Rayford, you can quote the full GRO BMD index reference, the cost is £7.00 (7.00 GBP) per certificate, including postage: www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/births/obtainingbirthcertificates/certificatefees.asp Payment is by credit card or debit card and the on-line ordering service from the GRO is now quite speedy. Local registrars charge £7.00 per certificate, but they may add extra for postage.
