With regard to the reliability (or otherwise) of the Welsh pedigrees, an article I found helpful (although difficult to understand in places) was "An approach to Welsh Genealogy"by Major Francis Jones, which was published in The Transactions of the Honourable Society of Cymmrodorion, Session 1948. I have attempted to summarise some of the key points on my web page at http://homepage.ntlworld.com/im.griffiths/parryfamilyhistory/parrytrees/gvstart.htm#hist in relation to a discussion about one of the PARRY families. As I mention on the page, I am not an expert in the area, just a "hobby genealogist" who has come across such pedigrees in my own research and wanted to find out more about them. I would recommend that anyone interested in the subject should read the article for themselves. (In case people aren't aware of the fact, Major Francis Jones was the Wales Herald Extraordinary prior to the Michael Powell Siddons mentioned in John Ball's message - see http://www.cgnfhs.org.uk/walehe98.htm) Regards Barbara Griffiths Coventry UK
