Thank you John (Hopkins), Yes, I tried the scale on the left, and it did do a little enlargement, but nothing like as much as I remember it used to be possible, or enough to be able to read more than a few of the more uncluttered words The enlargement used to be so great that it was necessary to scroll about to find the part required. Oh well! Keep trying. The icon on the right did nothing at all for me, but I could enlarge the map by using the scale on the left. Hope that helps. Am I the only one getting this response? I should welcome your comments Gordon (snip) You can also call up a highly detailed (1:10,560-scale) late 19th century map of this area by going to the Old Maps website at http://www.old-maps.co.uk/ On the main page, click on the illustration which states "Click here to begin your search". On the search page which appears, enter 316385 and 266690 into the co-ordinates search fields and click the GO button alongside. When the small map appears, click on the "Enlarge Map" icon on the right-hand tab. A highly detailed map of the area will open in a new window, centred on 'Old Hall' and also showing OldHall Wood and Old Hall Inn.
