Myra, Cwm is Valley (as is Dyffryn, though that tends to be a bigger valley) Gwy is the original Welsh version of Wye (the River Wye) Might another spelling of Cwm-Toyddwr be Cwm Deuddwr? The valley of two waters ie where two rivers join? I can imagine someone with quite a strong accent pronouncing the latter correct spelling as Toyddwr. Sorry, I don't know where it is though. Dear Rhian, Thank you for your translation. I'm hoping to visit the village tomorrow and didn't know where to start looking! There are a lot of Valleys in Radnorshire, but only one River Wye! I'll ask at the Archive Office (Llandrindod Wells)to see if they have heard of the address and get back to the list in case any others ever need to know! Thank you again for such a quick response - I'm very grateful, Myra -----Original Message----- From: powys-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:powys-bounces@rootsweb.com]On Behalf Of Rhian Williams Sent: 09 July 2007 20:45 To: powys@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [POWYS] RAD, EDWARDS Myra, Cwm is Valley (as is Dyffryn, though that tends to be a bigger valley) Gwy is the original Welsh version of Wye (the River Wye) Might another spelling of Cwm-Toyddwr be Cwm Deuddwr?
